Dr. Eduardo J. Fernandez is the Animal Behaviour Program Director and a Senior Lecturer of Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Adelaide (Australia). Most of his work involves behavioral research applied to the welfare, enrichment, and training of zoo, aquarium, and companion animals. His general research focus is on animal welfare and the applied animal sciences, largely influenced by learning and evolutionary theories and perspectives. He currently runs the Exotic Enrichment and Learning (EEL) lab, which focuses on improving the lives of animals located in zoos, aquariums, and wildlife parks. Monty Gwynne

Robin Horemans is a Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant and the founder of Parrot SOS, dedicated to improving the lives of companion parrots through evidence-based, ethical behavior support. With over two decades of hands-on experience and formal training in avian behavior, Robin specializes in helping caregivers resolve complex behavioral issues such as aggression, feather plucking, and screaming, while building relationships rooted in trust and choice. Robin is a sought-after speaker, educator, and mentor in the avian community, known for her compassionate, no-shame approach and practical problem-solving strategies. Through online courses, private consultations, and the SmartBeaks membership program, she’s helped thousands of caregivers deepen their understanding of parrot behavior and confidently navigate challenges at home. Robin’s work combines the science of learning with a deep respect for each bird’s individuality, empowering humans and parrots to thrive together. Robin is a: Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant with the IAABC Certified Pet Bird Trainer with the IATCB Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy Accredited Dog Trainer with IAABC. Robin has extensive training with the NEI Professional Animal Trainer Program, IAABCs Principles and Practice, Dr. Susan Friedmans' Living and Learning with Animals, ABA certificate from the Geneva Centre for Autism, Pijac Avian Certified, courses with Barbara Heidenreich, as well as free-flight training through Cockatoo Downs.

Monty Gwynne, founder of Equispeak and a self-proclaimed training junkie, is passionate about sharing her decades of training experience. This depth and breadth of her experiences with many different breeds and disciplines allows her to draw on them to better solve issues using R+. Monty’s training passions are classical dressage and driving. Because of her long involvement in the horse world she is often called upon to help take and rehab ponies and minis who have been in difficult situations. Using R+ has been the saving grace for many of these rescues. Monty’s approach is based on shaping without frustration and is unique in the R+ horse community. The focus of Monty’s journey is on bringing positive, science-based horse training to the forefront and working with people interested in discovering this powerful tool. Having seen the joy that positive reinforcement training brings to both partners in the horse - human relationship over the past 30+ years, there is no going back.

Zazie Todd, PhD, is an animal behaviour expert and the award-winning author of Wag: The Science of Making Your Dog Happy and Purr: The Science of Making Your Cat Happy. Her third book, Bark! The Science of Helping Your Anxious, Fearful, or Reactive Dog, won a Maxwell Medallion and the McFarland Best Book Award in the Dog Writer’s Association of America 2025 competition and has made multiple cameo appearances on Coronation Street. Todd is the director of Bark! Fest, the book festival for animal lovers, creator of Companion Animal Psychology blog, and has a column at Psychology Today. She produces and co-hosts The Pawsitive Post in Conversation podcast, the show about how to have a better relationship with your pet. Todd has a PhD in Psychology, an Advanced Certificate of Feline Behaviour (with Distinction) from International Cat Care, and is an honours graduate of the Academy for Dog Trainers. Originally from Leeds, UK, she lives in Maple Ridge, BC, with her husband, a dog and a cat.

Tabitha Kucera
 

Tabitha Kucera is an Elite Fear Free and Low-Stress Handling Certified Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician Specialist (Behavior), Certified Cat Behavior Consultant, and Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner. She owns Chirrups and Chatter Cat and Dog Behavior Consulting and Training and is the animal behavior technician at The Gentle Vet in Ohio. Tabitha lectures at both regional and national levels, enjoying the opportunity to help people better understand and connect with animals. Additionally, Tabitha is a Fear Free certified speaker and coach, a Fear Free Practice Certification Consultant, and the host of the podcast, Tails from a Vet Tech. She has contributed to the development of training and behavior programs for various veterinary hospitals and shelters and works as a consultant for shelters and veterinary practices.

Cindy Peacock is a renowned animal trainer with over 25 years of experience strengthening the human-animal bond through compassionate, science-based training. Driven by a profound responsibility to help animals thrive in human care, Cindy empowers pet parents and caregivers with the tools to build lifelong, mutually rewarding relationships. Cindy's journey began with fostering animals, providing individualized attention to support successful transitions into new homes. Her experience as a zookeeper and trainer at the Calgary Zoo (2004-2010) deepened her understanding of diverse species. In 2010, she founded Cindy Peacock - Animal Trainer, helping countless clients develop positive, lasting relationships with their animals. Cindy's expertise extends beyond companion animals. She served as Head of Behaviour at Kicking Horse Grizzly Refuge (2017-2020) and is currently developing the educational ambassador program for Little Mitten Rescue Organization. With a career spanning over two decades, Cindy remains dedicated to her core philosophy: guiding animals to thrive, not just coexist, in human care.

Marlene is a Therapist and Organizational Health Specialist, with 25 years of experience specializing in trauma and attachment. She holds her Masters of Social Work and is a Licensed Family Dog Mediator.. In 2019, she began fostering and subsequently adopted Cooper, the catalyst for her journey into the professional dog world. When Cooper began to struggle with sensitivity to noises, novel experiences and strangers, Marlene found herself searching for new perspectives in the field of dog training and subsequently became fascinated by the impact of caregiving for challenging dogs on the humans who love them and the impact of work-related stress on animal care professionals. Marlene provides education and support for caregivers and dog professionals living and working with complex companion animals. She has spoken at the 2023 and 2025 LEGS in Motion Conference, as well as the 2025 Aggression in Dogs Conference.
