The Open-Care Concept
"Open Care Concept" means that your dog is never kenneled during their visit to our facility. By eliminating kennels, we have eliminated the stress and loneliness that goes along with being caged. Freedom of choice is the underlying philosophy at Chasin' Tails: dogs are welcome to play with their friends, rest and relax or receive attention from a care-giver when they wish.
Don't be fooled by other facilities that diguise the kennels as "bedrooms" or "suites"; ultimately, dogs are left alone in a single cage in a block of other cubicles. Walks are advertised as momentary relief from being caged daily, but the actual frequency and duration of each walk remains a mystery.
Walkers can charge copious amounts for their services - expect a leash-entangled parade of multiple, restrained dogs, each one unable to run and freely socialize as dogs should. With walking services, expect your furry family members to be exposed to the elements, traffic, and the risk of escape and becoming lost.
Canine clients are placed in customized play-areas with fellow dogs of a similar size or activity level.
All of our guests are fed individually.
After a full day of play and petting, canine cilents select the bed of their choice and rest while a 24-hour Caregiver gives everyone a bedtime bellyrub.
Our team of caregivers are dedicated, educated and possess experience in the diverse field of canine care. As a result, all the guests at Chasin' Tails are able to enjoy a stimulating and safe environment with friendly fellow dogs without physical barriers.

Frequent Asked Questions
-
Why must my dog be vaccinated to attend your facility ?
-
Since many canine diseases are spread from contact with one another it is vital that all dogs attending Chasin' Tails be up to date on their vaccines or "shots". Dogs can spread diseases or easily pick them up anywhere that they come in contact with other dogs. Your vet will discuss which vaccines are necessary and how often they need to be administered. Keep in mind that parks, kennels, vet offices and grooming salons etc. can all be a likely place for your dog to catch diseases. We insist that all dogs be vaccinated so that everyone can play safely together.
-
Why is it that Chasin' Tails does not accept intact dogs ?
-
"Intact" or not spayed/neutered means that your pet has all its breeding organs still present. This can cause some major problems. Often, intact males will act aggressively towards each other in a show of competition. In their minds, whoever wins the fight wins the territory and all the girls that come with it. Intact females can also be aggressive or dominant towards each other for the same or different reasons. Also, obviously intact males and females make puppies and that just won't do! Chasin' Tails asks that daycare clients be spayed/neutered by 6 months if they are big dogs and 7 months for small dogs. Boarding clients that are small dogs should be spayed/neutered by 7 months, while larger breeds are welcome for boarding once they are 6 months old and spayed/neutered. Your vet will discuss with you the appropriate time to get your friend "fixed". Some breeds mature much slower than others and vice versa. Please keep in mind that if your female dog goes into heat (breeding time) before she gets spayed, she will not be allowed to attend our facility while going through this period. Since we are "open care concept" every dog must be friendly and social to curb fighting. We find that if every dog is "fixed" no aggression of this kind occurs.
-
How long is long term?
-
We understand that any amount of time spent away from your best friend can seem like a lifetime. We take pets for any length of time. A 10-day or longer stay will merit a 10% discount on your pet's entire stay !!
-
I have a tiny little dog and I am worried he/she may get overwhelmed ?
-
At Chasin' Tails we offer a big dog and little dog play area. Both are "open care concept" so dogs of all sizes can always find a place to fit right in! We also offer doggy cabins and there are beds everywhere so your pet is welcome to go off and have some private time whenever he/she desires.
-
My dog may not do well in an open atmosphere but is afraid of kennels ?
-
We take the time to slowly introduce new dogs in our "doggy lounge". Here, your pet can meet a few individual dogs at a time and when he/she feels comfortable, may join the whole group in our large daycare area.
-
What do you mean by "Open Care Concept" ?
-
"Open care concept" means that your dog is never kenneled during their visit to our facility. All dogs get to play in a big open area and are supervised 24/7. At nighttime everyone picks a bed and has a big doggy sleepover. By eliminating kennels we have eliminated the stress that goes along with being caged up. Our staff is fully trained in properly maintaining a well-mannered atmosphere and we screen all dogs before they are accepted. As a result all pets at Chasin' Tails are friendly and social and really enjoy playing together all day without being cooped up.
-
My vet said I shouldn't ever change my dog's diet, as he/she may get sick ?
-
If your dog was to come down with diarrhea and you took him/her in, your vet would recommend putting him/her on this special gastro formula because it is easy to digest and helps calm your pups tummy. We simply skip the vet trip and put your dog on this food so that diarrhea never becomes a problem during their visit. Switching your dog's regular diet to our special food and then back again will not upset his/her tummy.
-
Is the food provided a healthy and safe choice for my dog to eat ?
-
We provide a kibble diet that is direct from our veterinarian. It is a special gastro formula that ensures that your pet does not get an upset tummy from his/her change in routine. It is infused with natural digestive enzymes, which makes it a healthy choice for any breed or age of dog. Sometimes dogs can get diarrhea when their routine is changed and our food makes it so their dinner stays where it should - in their tummies.
-
Does coming to daycare mess up my dog's potty training ?
-
The answer is NO. Our facility, for the most part, is built to resemble a park instead of a house. Our floors are covered with 3/4 inch rubber matting for your dogs comfort and we have seperated their "potty area" from their play areas. Since dogs are taught to go potty on grass or gravel they normally are very eager to use the potty areas we have created for them. Our "potty areas" are made with a unique product called "permapave" which means permeable pavers. These Eco friendly pavers are like cubes of very porous pea gravel. The dogs do their business and the luiquid goes straight through- onto a subfloor that has water running under it. Everything is then washed into the sanitary sewer. Of course solid material is picked up and removed and the entire potty area is sanitized every day.
